Here
is our group posing again this was the only time we had a problem with the
black flies in the area! Other than that we had sunny, 75-80 degree days for
12 straight days! Except for the smoke from the forest fires, the weather
was perfect!
Ok
Mel, you crossed over the line a bit here in more ways than one!!!!!
Well,
there she is in front of Mt. McKinley
since they won't let you drive to within 30 miles of it, this is the
closest view we had of it!
Follow
the purple moose!
More
tundra out the windows- at least the windows are large, there is leg room
and the seats were comfy!
Well,
here is a moose, oh no, that is just Betty with a MOOSE MARY!!
Panning for gold- now that was an experience
it was disgusting to see how they did it in the past, and literally
ruined the ground strip mining and raping the area!
Mounds and piles of dirt and rock everywhere! What a mess, and they are
worried about a few caribou having a few less acres. . . .
A
golden spike
Is it real? Think they will miss it if I stick it in my pocket?
You
who
Say
Cheese and smile
There still is a possibility that we will see some wild animals!!!
Perilous curves and winding paths
ok, well just a little bit!
We were not biting our nails, just desperately hoping for a look at some
wildlife.. we were beginning to this Alaska was sterile!!
McKinley Explorer to Anchorage
Ok
Justine, I heard him, he said that is the closest you will get to getting a
fur coat!
Ok,
more dead tundra, dried up muddy lakes and rivers and smoky mountains,
remind me why I spent the last 4 days driving through this?
Tundra trail in Denali
Gee,
I can do it on my left leg
and I
can do it on my right leg!
I guess when you are honeymooners, anything makes you smile!!!
Greg and Justine
Ok,
ok, quit your barking, it was not that bad!
And yes, we finally found some real wild life in Alaska, all those post
cards are not really fake, they just hide most of it from us so we will go
into the gift shops!
Kenai Fjords
Aialik Glacier
we spent quite a bit of time here watching it calve
so go to that page for more of this!!!
Kathy, our fearless leader gets some warm wool socks!
It was the last night in Anchorage, and our group trooped on over to
Humpy's for some spirits and live music one last time!
The
boys having an Artic Red!
Hey,
I thought this was a family trip. . ..
We
tried to get a group picture....
Justine dancing with our drunk photographer!
and
tried
and
tried
oh well, put them all together, and I am sure you will be able to see
everyone!
and
tried, do you think it might have something to do with the drunk we asked in
the bar to take the photos?
again. . . . .
Well, before we left we were "interviewed"
by the local
cable TV . . . . . . . .
It was more like Elyse was interviewing
Ray Metcalfe- Alaska's Republican Moderates Party leader
Barbara Walter style in the park at 11:30 with bugs bunny playing in the
background!!!
