G'day Mate! Come join me in a trip down
under to Australia to learn about winemaking.. ..
First you have to grow the grapes...

Then you have to pick them and crush them |

Then they go in these huge tanks for a little while to ferment with yeast |
The region is known for old
fashioned full bodied reds which have much to do with the mild temperate
climate, complex soils and winemaking technique.
Sooner or later they can go into oak barrels

oh wait a minute what it this? An old grape crusher |
It amazing to see how they did things in the past versus now.....

Wax lined cement tanks |
White wines also have a certain full
flavored
intensity about them.

The old |

vs. the New |

Oh my, that is a lot of wine |

Did you know that they take cuttings of the vines and root
them and start new plots of vines? |
The region is best known for Shiraz, Cabernet
Sauvignon, Chardonnay and more recently, Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc.

The McLaren Vale is half an hour south of
Adelaide, between the Southern Adelaide Hills and the sea. The areas hot
summer growing season is tempered by cool afternoon sea breezes.
